How Basepass verifies benefits and discounts
What we link to, what we show on every listing, what changes without notice, and what Basepass does not do.
UpdatedThe short version
Basepass helps service members, veterans, and military families find benefits, discounts, and free places that may apply to them. We organize information and point you to the people who actually decide: the agency or business responsible for each program. This page explains how we approach sources, freshness, and the limits of what we can promise.
Where benefit and discount details come from
We link to the organization responsible for the program, not to a copy of it. For federal and state benefits, that means official government pages such as VA.gov, the National Park Service, and state agency sites. For discounts and free places, it means the company's own policy page or other primary source where one exists. Our veteran benefits guide follows the same approach, linking to the official page for each program it describes.
Why link out instead of summarizing everything? Because eligibility, rates, and application steps belong to the source. A summary can help you decide what to look at; the official page is what you should rely on when you apply.
What a listing shows
Useful information is more than a name and a percentage. Where the information is available, a listing can show:
- the offer or benefit itself;
- who qualifies, such as active duty, veterans, retirees, spouses, or dependents;
- how to verify eligibility, such as a military ID, veteran ID, or an online verification service;
- directions, for places you can visit;
- the official source;
- when the information was last checked; and
- recent community confirmations or reports.
The last-checked date matters. It tells you how recently the listing was reviewed, so you can decide how much to double-check before relying on it.
Offers change, so confirm before you go
Military discounts in particular are not uniform. A national brand may set one policy while individual franchises set another. Offers can be limited to certain dates, locations, or groups, and they can end without notice. A listing, however carefully sourced, is a starting point. Before you travel or buy, check the current terms with the provider and bring the identification they ask for. The same is true for benefits: confirm the current rule on the official page before you apply.
Basepass is a research tool. Eligibility estimates are informational only and are not an official determination.
What Basepass does not do
- No VA claims help. We do not decide, prepare, or file claims and do not charge a claims fee. Assisting with VA claims requires VA accreditation, which Basepass does not hold. If you want claim help, look for an accredited representative.
- No government affiliation. Basepass is an independent private company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for the VA, the Department of Defense, any military branch, or any government agency.
- No SSN or DoD ID number. The free benefits check does not ask for either.
- No sale of your answers. Your answers are used to build your estimate and personalized breakdown, and you can request deletion. See our privacy policy for details.
Report an outdated or incorrect offer
Spotted something that has changed? Tell us. Email info@reelpop.co with the offer, where you saw it, and what is different, and include the provider's current policy link if you have one. Reports help keep listings useful for everyone who relies on them.

Frequently asked questions
Does Basepass guarantee that a discount or benefit is available?
No. Offers, participating locations, and program rules change. Basepass shows the source and when information was last checked, but you should confirm the current policy with the provider or agency before you travel or buy.
Where does the information come from?
Basepass links to the organization responsible for each program: official government pages for federal and state benefits, and company policy pages for discounts. Where a listing depends on another source, we try to show it.
Can Basepass file a VA claim for me?
No. Basepass does not decide, prepare, or file VA claims. Claims assistance requires VA accreditation, and Basepass is not a VA-accredited representative.
Is Basepass affiliated with the VA or the Department of Defense?
No. Basepass is an independent private company and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting for the VA, the DoD, any military branch, or any government agency.
Do I need to share my SSN or DoD ID number?
No. The free benefits check does not ask for your SSN or DoD ID number.
How do I report an outdated or incorrect offer?
Email info@reelpop.co with the offer, the page where you saw it, and what changed. If the app shows a way to confirm or report a listing, you can use that as well.
