How ratings combine
Most veterans have more than one rated condition, and VA does not simply add the percentages. Under 38 CFR 4.25, ratings are combined from highest to lowest, each applied to the remaining efficiency, and the result is rounded to the nearest 10. A 50% and a 30% rating combine to 65, which rounds to 70, not 80. A bilateral factor under 38 CFR 4.26 can apply to paired limbs. The VA combined rating calculator shows each step and looks up your pay from this chart.

- 100 percent: $3,938.58 for a veteran alone, $4,158.17 with a spouse. See what else a 100% or P&T rating unlocks in the 100% disabled veteran benefits guide.
What these rates do not include
This chart covers basic monthly compensation. It does not include special monthly compensation, individual unemployability, or other add-ons, which VA lists separately. Your actual payment depends on your rating, your dependents as recorded with VA, and any offsets. VA decides all of these, so confirm your own amount on VA.gov. Basepass is not accredited by VA and does not help prepare or present claims. For help with a claim, contact a VA-accredited representative.
